Every month we pick one artist to highlight in our Artist Takeover Q&A, this month's artist is @nailsthatlooklikepaintings.
Read our interview with her below:
What is or are your art forms?
My main art form is nails, I like to call them mini canvases, which is where my Insta[gram] handle came from. But I also paint on real canvases, and I’ve started painting on shoes too.
Do you see a trend in customer requests, in terms of design?
Most of the time no, but every so often a lot of my customers are asking me for the same design. Sometimes it’s because of a trend, like swirls or tile nails or mushroom nails. But mainly it’s because they’ve seen nails that I’ve done once and all want them like cloud/sky nails, gemstone nails or porcelain nails - which I’m kind of known for. I do have to reject a lot of my customers’ requests though because I hate doing the same style of nails over and over again. It gets boring and there are some designs that I just won’t do because they’re not really my style.
How would you describe your fashion sense?
I like to describe my clothing style as being like a Pastel Princess. I wouldn’t say that I think too much about how I dress but I do love pastel colours, I do find it hard to dress because I have to think about whether something is actually cute or if it's just pink, ha!
It’s something that’s changed over the last few years, I used to wear a lot more blacks, reds, greens and quite a bit of leopard print! But now as long as it’s pastel and pretty - it’s probably in my wardrobe.
What is on your asos wishlist right now?
